The Yellow Line extension from RV Road to Bommasandra prepares for significant upgrades with safety inspections and the arrival of new trains, enhancing Bengaluru’s metro service.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Yellow Line of Namma Metro, connecting RV Road to Bommasandra, is poised for significant advancements in Bengaluru\u2019s metro network. A team from the Commissioners of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) is scheduled to inspect the line at the end of October. This inspection is crucial for ensuring that the new extension meets all safety standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In conjunction with these inspections, the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) anticipates the arrival of six new trains from Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd. by December. This addition is part of a larger initiative to boost the city\u2019s public transport capacity, aiming to make metro services more frequent and reliable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier this year, the introduction of a driverless train manufactured by China\u2019s CRRC marked a technological leap on this route, primarily serving the bustling Electronic City. Following up, Titagarh is preparing to deliver a total of 14 train sets, which includes 84 coaches equipped with Communication-Based Train Control technology, by August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, the BMRCL is using a single CRRC train for trial runs on the Yellow Line. These trials are extensive, covering 36 different types of tests, including signalling and track assessments. At least three trains are required to complete these comprehensive tests, and the additional trains are expected soon. This thorough testing aims to clear all necessary evaluations by September or October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once the Railway Board gives its approval following the CMRS inspection in October, regular metro services on the Yellow Line are expected to commence by December. Initially, six trains will be deployed to ensure a new train every 15 minutes, significantly enhancing commuter convenience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The improvements also extend beyond the Yellow Line. The existing shortages of trains affecting the Purple and Green lines are being addressed. A prototype train featuring DTG (Distance to Go) technology is due from CRRC this August, with 20 more DTG trains slated for delivery by November 2025, further bolstering the efficiency of Namma Metro’s service across Bengaluru.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
