BMRCL plans to enhance connectivity with 16 new interchange stations in Phases 2 and 3.

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is planning to add 16 new interchange metro stations to make commuting easier for everyone. This will help passengers travel on any metro line more easily and encourage more people to use the metro for their daily commute, according to BMRCL officials.

Right now, the only interchange station in the city is the Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Interchange at Majestic, where around 50,000 passengers switch between the Purple and Green lines every day.

With the upcoming Phase 2 and Phase 3 projects, there will be 16 new interchange stations connecting various metro lines, including the Purple, Green, Yellow, Pink, and Blue lines. The new interchange stations will be located at:

  1. Jayadeva Junction on Bannerghatta Road
  2. M.G. Road
  3. K.R. Puram
  4. Hosahalli
  5. Mysuru Road
  6. Peenya
  7. R.V. Road
  8. J.P. Nagar
  9. J.P. Nagar 4th Stage
  10. Dairy Circle
  11. Nagavara
  12. Kempapura
  13. Hebbal
  14. Agara
  15. Central Silk Board
  16. Sumanahalli Cross

The Jayadeva Junction interchange on Bannerghatta Road will be the largest in the city and is expected to open at the end of this year. It will connect the Yellow and Pink lines, becoming a key station for both lines. The Yellow Line runs from R.V. Road to Bommasandra, and the Pink Line runs from Kalena Agrahara to Nagawara.

This station will feature a double-decker flyover with one level for road traffic and another for metro trains. This design will allow people coming from the Ragigudda side to directly access Silk Board without stopping at any signal. The Jayadeva station is expected to become very busy, with an estimated 80,000 to 90,000 passengers using it daily once both the Yellow and Pink Lines are operational.

The main aim of planning 16 interchange metro stations is to ensure that commuters can easily travel on any metro line, thereby increasing passenger reliance on the metro for their daily commute. In the coming years, these interchange stations will connect the Purple, Green, Yellow, Pink, and Blue lines of the metro,” officials said.
